Search For Care Health in New York
Search for care health is an on-line tool you can use to help find doctors, hospitals, clinics and pharmacies that are in the network of your health insurance plan. The tool is updated with provider information that is sent to New York State directly from the health plans. You can also look up providers by name.
Find a Doctor
Choosing a doctor is an important decision. You’ll want to select a physician with whom you feel comfortable discussing health concerns, and who can provide the care you need. It’s also important to find a doctor who is in-network for your plan. When using our online provider directory, simply indicate your plan type in Step Two of Find-A-Doc and you will be shown a list of doctors who are in-network for your specific plan.
Additionally, most physicians have information about their education, experience and the insurance they accept available on their website. You may also want to check with family and friends for recommendations.
If you need to communicate with your doctor via phone or video, make sure they offer these options. You’ll also want to find out which languages your doctor speaks. Our online provider directory allows you to search by language in addition to office location and specialty. For example, you can use the “advanced search” to locate in-network doctors who speak Spanish or another language. This will help you avoid a costly medical bill.
Find a Pharmacy
Pharmacists are health care professionals who work closely with doctors to make sure you are getting the right medicine at the right time. They also provide advice on leading a healthy lifestyle.
They are responsible for verifying your prescriptions, ensuring you’re receiving the proper dosage of medications and confirming new medications won’t interact with any you currently take. They can also create customized medications by mixing ingredients (compounding) and give you vaccinations, including the flu vaccine. They are also an excellent source of information on how to get rid of unused and expired medication safely so it doesn’t end up in the wrong hands.
To become a pharmacist, you’ll need to earn your Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) and complete a one- or two-year residency. Then you’ll need to pass the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam, or MPJE.
If you’re a member, you can find network providers and pharmacies using our provider search tool or you can login to your account and request that a printed directory be mailed to you.
